ActiveCampaign or GetResponse: automation or a content journey

First choose the path that must work: qualify a request, maintain a relationship or sell content. The total number of functions does not make it possible to decide.

What process should remain understandable to your team?

ActiveCampaign deserves to be studied on automation rules and their articulation with customer data. GetResponse also compares itself on content, collection and sales routes. For a small activity, start with the expected result and the functions that someone will use each week.

ActiveCampaign: starting from the business rule

On ActiveCampaign, map a request as it enters a sequence, changes status and then leaves it. The Starter pricing table consulted sets a limit of five actions per automation. Check the workflow against the plan you choose instead of inferring its price merely from the presence of the word automation.

A rule must be explained and corrected. If a contact receives an unexpected message, the person in charge must find the condition that triggered it. Do not add scoring or several branches before you have reliable data and a defined use for the result.

GetResponse : check the content sold

GetResponse These include Starter, Marketer and Creator. Course and webinar functions are to be checked in the exact package and its options. Check the presence of each function in the input package, then in the paid options.

If you are planning a webinar or paid content, prepare the full course: registration, access, reminder, participation and follow-up. The official pages consulted do not all give the same figure for webinar capacity. Confirm the capacity of the offered option instead of turning an isolated value into a promise.

The calculation of lists deserves special attention

The GetResponse help explains that billing takes into account the maximum number of active subscribers and the contacts added during the month. An address in several lists can also count several times. Multiplying lists to organize themes can therefore have a commercial consequence.

Before a migration, consider whether a field or segmentation can represent the information without unnecessarily duplicating the address. Keep exclusions and provenance. Removing and then replacing a list should not be considered as a guaranteed method of staying at the same level.

A pilot who sets the tools

  1. A main route

Choose a content signup or a qualified enquiry. Write down the expected outcome at each stage using fictitious data.

  2. An exception

Enter a deregistration, duplicate and a response that must stop the sequence. Control the following messages.

  3. A recovery

Ask a colleague to change a condition and prepare the next campaign. Identify ambiguities in the documentation.

  4. A full budget

Simulate the necessary contacts, accesses and modules. Keep duration, currency and renewal conditions with the result.

The final decision

Choose ActiveCampaign if the pilot confirms that its rules support your process and remain maintainable. Consider GetResponse if combining its content features avoids the need for several tools. In both cases, an unused feature still adds cost and complexity. Do not attribute time savings or revenue to it before measuring them in your own business.
