What should your newsletter produce?

MailerLite is a track for connecting collection, campaigns and hosting routes around an activity. beehiiv deserves study for a regular publication whose audience and monetization are part of the model. These orientations are not absolute boundaries: the right choice is made on the next two issues and the sequence intended for new readers.

MailerLite: organising a limited route

An independent may want to send a document promised for registration, then a monthly newsletter. In MailerLite, prepare this circuit before adding branches. Each message must have a clear reason and output. Submit a clear offer before multiplying messages.

The free quota changed in June 2026. Calculate campaigns and automatic messages together: even a small list may exceed the monthly volume. With the Comfort and Power pay offers, compare the shipping and use limits. Do not just choose the number of addresses you can store.

beehiiv: first validate the publication work

With beehiiv, prepare two issues of the same specialist newsletter. Check that readers understand the promise, can find earlier publications and know what to expect in the next issue. Choosing a platform has little value if you cannot maintain the stated publishing frequency.

The monetization fee functions can serve an already defined model. They do not guarantee advertisers, subscriptions or income. Write your business hypothesis, production budget and software cost separately. This separation avoids presenting the growth of a list as an acquired profitability.

The entry price trap

With beehiiv, a plan's overall limit and the paid tier for a particular audience size are two different things. An offer capable of supporting up to 100 000 subscribers does not include all of them at the minimum price. If several publications share a workspace, check the combined total.

For MailerLite, consider your sending frequency as well as your subscriber count. For both tools, model your current audience and a realistic stage of growth. Keep the currency, commitment period and optional extras in your spreadsheet, then compare the renewal cost.

A pilot without sending to your real base

  1. The drive path

Use some internal volunteer addresses. Check form, welcome, phone reading and unsubscribe.

  2. Production work

Prepare two separate contents. Note what needs to be retouched in each tool and what a colleague can publish without your help.

  3. Future migration

Check the export of subscribers, status and useful information. Do not assume that an address file also carries all the archives and rules of your publication.

The rule of choice

Hold the product that supports your journey and your pace with an explainable budget. For a simple commercial newsletter, start with the collection and reception. For a specialized media, start with the quality and regularity of the editions. In both cases, carry forward growth functions that do not yet have a responsible or measurable objective.
