Buying a .fr domain from Amen: price, registrant and DNS

The name of the site commits more than a first payment. Before you book a .fr, decide who owns it, how to renew it and where to run the site and emails.

The choice in a few benchmarks

Amen can act as registrar for a .fr domain used by a French business. The key point is to retain access and contact details controlled by your company. Examine renewal separately from the promotion; the domain, website and email may fall under three different contracts.

Analysis of official documentation, with no testing on a paid account.

Reserve on behalf of the right holder

You entrust the creation of the site to an agency? Ask that the domain owner be the company that operates this site. The management account and technical contact are other roles: they must not cause you to lose access to the name when the provider changes. In your file, keep the reserved name, the declared holder, the registration office and the person responsible for the deadline.

The charter Afnic of 6 July 2026, article 5.1 In particular, it shall open the .fr to natural persons residing in the European Union and to legal persons having their head office or principal place of business there, as well as to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. It imposes exact and contact details. Eligibility for registration does not mean, however, that all Amen commercial promotions are accessible to you.

Choose a recovery address independent of the domain you purchase. If the only address to recover the account depends on the expired domain, you make it difficult to resolve the problem. This recommendation relates to your access organization; it does not state that Amen imposes a particular method of recovery.

Read the price of .fr over its entire duration of use

Observation of 8 October 2026, no permanent promise: on Amen listed €1 excluding VAT for the first year of a new online .fr registration, until 13 October 2026, with a limit of three domains per customer. The terms excluded transfers and renewals, restricted promotions to EU customers and then specified standard renewal at €49.90 excluding VAT per year.

These amounts apply to the dated statement. After this deadline, see the price displayed on the order. A particular arrival page may also apply its own conditions. The partner link of this article does not contain any additional discount code and we do not present the public offer as an exclusive advantage Logicelio.

To understand the difference, add the periods instead of multiplying the first price by the number of years. Assuming the recorded prices remained applicable, a domain costing €1 excluding VAT in the first year and renewing at €49.90 excluding VAT totals €50.90 excluding VAT over two years. Three domains on the same terms total €152.70 excluding VAT. These are illustrative calculations excluding options and taxes, rather than quotes for future purchases.

Do not reserve five variants simply because openness seems economical. List the variants that protect your name, then assign a recurring destination and budget to each. A name never used continues to have a deadline. If the project is abandoned, explicitly decide which areas to retain instead of leaving this decision dependent on an expired bank card.

Separate the destination of the site and that of the emails

The Official presentation of the .fr at Amen distinguishes the reservation and the DNS configuration. In your own inventory, note two destinations: where the site is and where the mailboxes are. A web hosting change does not require simultaneously moving the email.

This table explains the functions of the records; it does not provide any value to paste into your area. For migration, first ask the new hoster for values and save the old ones. Compare names, types and destinations before validating. Do not assume that a web configuration button has preserved all the mail entries: check the result.

Control can remain short and concrete: open an inside page of the site, send a message to an external address, receive its response and control the contact form. Do these audits in the public domain. Check that the public domain displays the same version as the hosting preview.

Organize renewal without dependent on a single reminder

In a small internal table, associate each domain with its manager, due date and means of payment. Provide an early check of the coordinates and the recorded map. Even if you activate an automatic renewal, keep track of this: an automation does not regulate a refused payment or a contact box that has become inaccessible.

After changing providers, check your new administrative access before removing the old access. For a domain transfer, review the terms specific to that operation: the price of a new .fr registration is not a transfer price. Also ask what happens to DNS, redirects and related services. Keeping the domain name operational and preserving the hosted data are separate checks.

Domain only or a hosting package?

A domain on its own is suitable when your site already exists elsewhere or when you want to retain the freedom to choose hosting later. A package may simplify billing and administration, but compare the services you need. Two business mailboxes and a brochure website do not automatically justify a plan designed for several sites.

Before purchasing a domain included in a package, specify the eligible extension, duration included, renewal and consequences of termination of hosting. Avoid combining a separate purchase and a domain included by default. Our Amen hosting budget analysis explains how these cost items are separated. If you choose WordPress, the Amen maintenance guide helps to define who intervenes on the site.

Questions before ordering the domain

Does a domain .fr guarantee a better ranking Google?

Choose an easy name to link to your business. For visibility in Google, also work the pages, their technical accessibility and your commercial presence.

Do we have to host the site at Amen?

The reservation of the name and the destination DNS are separate choices. Ask for the possibilities of your contract, then use the settings of the provider that actually hosts your site. To compare creative approaches, see our comparative Webflow and WordPress.

What to keep as proof of purchase?

Keep the order confirmation, accepted terms and information of the holder. Note separately the prices for each period and the selected options. This trace will be more useful to renew or migrate than a capture of the promotional banner alone.
