Compare business accounts, invoicing and tax returns separately.
List the tasks you need to cover: making and receiving payments, invoicing, preparing tax returns or giving your accounting firm access. Then compare the features and cost of the plan suited to your business status. If Qonto and Indy serve two distinct roles, connecting them lets you retrieve transactions and supporting documents in Indy.

Qonto or Indy: which should you choose for your business?
| Your situation | Suggested starting point | Decisive condition |
|---|---|---|
| Micro-enterprise with simple invoices | Consider Indy Essentiel before a paid subscription | Check the tax returns you need separately. |
| Self-employed professional whose current account already meets their needs | Compare the accounting feature you are missing | Do not switch accounts solely to get software. |
| Small team needing to allocate cards and payments | Compare Qonto plans | Check the permissions, cards and transactions included. |
| Accounting firm already equipped with software | Ask about its collection process and formats | Avoid paying twice for a task already covered by its engagement. |

Verification of 27 September 2026. Grids and official aids consulted at this date. Qonto indicates that it is a payment institution supervised by the Bank of France, not a bank; the current term "pro bank" does not accurately describe this status. Check your company's eligibility, account terms and accounting functions before changing.
The choice is made on five actual operations
| Operation to be reproduced | What Qonto needs to demonstrate | What Indy needs to demonstrate |
|---|---|---|
| Receive a customer payment | Visibility of movement, reconciliation of invoice and information to the employee concerned. | Import movement from the account used and correct accounting assignment. |
| Paying a Supplier | Approval permissions, transfer execution, fees and the associated supporting document. | Expense categorisation and a document available for filings or the accounting firm. |
| Submit a quote and then a down payment | Issue, payment status and link to account movements. | Issuance, deposit recording and impact in accounting tracking. |
| Close a month | Export transactions and supporting documents in the format required by your accounting firm. | Reconciliations, anomalies, missing supporting documents and covered statements. |
| Add another person | Cost of seat or card and separation of permissions. | Role of the employee or accountant and access to relevant data. |
This table distinguishes an advertised feature from a complete workflow. Both tools may let you create an invoice, but only a trial will show how many steps are needed between creating it, receiving payment and preparing the accounts. Also test a refund and a cancelled invoice: errors quickly reveal which system holds the authoritative record.
Qonto: account and expenses as starting point
Qonto centres on business account transactions, cards, transfers, permissions and supporting documents; its French grid also includes billing functions. Basic starts at 9 € excluding VAT per month based on an annual subscription. The help center Qonto details plan tiers and fees. An account's price does not automatically cover bookkeeping and all required filings: specify which software or accounting firm will handle that work.
For a small team, ask who can prepare a transfer, who approves it, how many cards are included and how transactions and supporting documents are exported. Also check transfer limits and charges outside the package. If you have neither a team nor complex payment flows, a banking plan with more features may go unused.
Indy: Accounting according to status and declarations
Indy publishes several courses for micro-enterprise, sole proprietorship and company. The grid Indy lists a free Essentiel plan and a paid tier starting at 9 € excluding VAT per month, billed annually, for the auto-entrepreneur profile reviewed; this “from” price does not apply to every business status or feature. The vendor also promotes a business account. Do not compare only the entry-level price: ask exactly which filings for your tax regime, supporting documents and assistance are included.
A sole trader under the actual-profit tax regime does not have the same accounting entries or deadlines as a micro-enterprise. Before the trial, list the documents you prepare over twelve months and the difficult transactions: fixed assets, mixed business and personal expenses, VAT, reimbursements or multiple rates depending on the activity. Ask your accountant or adviser to check the role the tool will play in your organisation. An automation promise does not remove the need to check categories and supporting documents.
Use them together or choose only one
Two subscriptions can make sense if the Qonto account handles your payments and Indy provides the accounting oversight you need. Before combining them, check that the account you use actually connects to Indy, how often it synchronises, how duplicates are handled and who owns the supporting documents. Make a small transfer, check that the transaction appears and attach the corresponding invoice. If changing a transaction description in the account breaks the match, establish who will correct it.
Conversely, keep your current account if it covers payments and access rights, and your only problem is reporting. Do not change banks by habit when exporting or connecting is enough. If your accountant already uses a specific suite, ask for its formats before opening a new account or paying for another software.
Electronic invoicing: a joint audit
Since September 2026, the companies concerned must be able to receive electronic invoices from their suppliers. For operations in the field of reform, the circuit passes through an approved platform (PA), directly or via a compatible solution. The issue becomes mandatory according to the size of the company, with the September deadline 2027 for SMEs and micro-enterprises. Check it official status of the PA and ask both vendors the same question: which platform receives your invoices now, how is that platform appointed, and where can you find a rejected invoice?
A business account, a PDF invoice and an accounting tool do not automatically form a complete regulatory circuit. The PA guide and compatible solution gives a method of control. Have the active perimeter confirmed in writing for your status and compatibility with the work of the firm.
Budget and decision
Over twelve months, compare the cost of the account, extra cards and transfers, then the accounting features needed for your legal status, the accounting firm and any users. Alongside this, record the time spent gathering supporting documents and transactions each month. The starting prices of 9 € excluding VAT displayed by both vendors cover different services and specific subscription conditions: they cannot identify a winner on their own.
Choose Qonto if the trial shows a clear improvement in payments and coordination, Indy if it removes accounting tasks required by your tax regime, or both if the synchronisation works reliably. If your current tools already cover both workflows, migrate only after identifying a measurable limitation. The first check is a sale, a purchase, a correction and a monthly close completed without duplicate entry, rather than an “all-in-one” slogan.
The prices Qonto and Indy: what you pay
Viewed references 29 September 2026, excluding promotion: rates Qonto and grid Indy. The paid Indy lines below concern the self-entrepreneur profile; they do not fix the price of a company or individual enterprise to the real.
| Supply and scope | Monthly payment | Annual payment | Not to be confused |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qonto Basic, professional account | 11 € excluding VAT/month | 108 € excluding VAT/year, that is 9 € excluding VAT/month | This rate does not quantify the work of your accountant. |
| Indy Essentiel | 0 € | 0 € | The free base does not include mandatory tax returns. |
| Indy Plus, self-employed | 12 € excluding VAT/month | 108 € excluding VAT/year, that is 9 € excluding VAT/month | Additional management features, without Autonomie’s filing scope. |
| Indy Autonomie, micro-entrepreneur | 19 € excluding VAT/month | 180 € excluding VAT/year, that is 15 € excluding VAT/month | Check the reports covered and the particulars of your activity. |
An example of a budget, not an obligation to cumulate
Combining Qonto Basic with Indy Autonomie for a micro-enterprise amounts to 288 € excluding VAT over twelve months with both annual payments : 108 + 180. With both subscriptions billed monthly, the calculation is 12 × (11 + 19), or 360 € excluding VAT. These examples exclude professional fees, optional extras and transaction charges. They do not establish that two services are necessary: keeping the existing account or using just one workflow may be enough.
To choose another package or anticipate the Business increase, see full table of rates Qonto. If the main challenge is sharing the file with the firm, continue with Indy or Pennylane.
Before connecting Qonto to Indy
In Indy, open the bank connection, select Qonto, then authorise syncing in Qonto. The vendor documents the retrieval of transactions and supporting documents. When manually exporting invoices, the period refers to their import date in Qonto, not the invoice date. Accounting entry exports are advertised as available from Business upwards. Frequently asked questions
Is Indy free, unlike Qonto?
Indy offers a free Essentiel plan. This must be distinguished from paid features and tax returns. The Qonto Basic business account has a fee; Qonto's free invoicing offer is a separate service, without the account's payment features.
Qonto or Indy for a French micro-entrepreneur?
Start with the tasks you are missing: invoices, accounting tracking, tax returns or payments. Consider Indy for a process suited to a micro-enterprise, and Qonto for business account needs. The choice depends on the features you use, not just the entry price.
Can you use Qonto and Indy together?
Yes. Qonto documents a connection that you enable from Indy to retrieve transactions and their supporting documents. The bank connection, dedicated access for the accounting firm and export of accounting entries are three different features: check which plan covers each one.
Do you need to close your current account to use accounting software?
Do not assume that you do. First check whether your current account and the available exports or connections support the work you need. Switching accounts should resolve an identified limitation, rather than simply accompany a change of software.
